About the client

Job Description

Personal Assistant Job Ref 98232

General Information

It is the job of my Personal Assistant to assist in meeting my personal, social and domestic needs as a disabled person, and any other day-to-day requirements or activities, as a result of this assistance I hope to lead an individual, independent and active life in my own home and the community.

As my Personal Assistant you should be able to carry out the physical tasks of safe moving and handling, pushing and bending, and although you do not need to be physically strong to do certain tasks well, it does help together with good general health.

You will need to have a current driving licence and an ability to drive a manual car.

My Personal Assistant team support me to live my life at home by helping me to run my household, support me to be a parent to my teenage children at weekends, motivate me to go on outings and join in with the community and they work together with health teams to keep me safe and well.

I am a fun loving person, so you will need a sense of humour along with good manners and the skills required to support me well. I am an established employer of Personal Assistants and I value the support that this type of care provides and in return I expect my PA’s to value me and my home, not just as a job and a workplace, but for the person that I am. I do need someone who can motivate me but who can also tolerate my ups and downs. I love listening to popular music so the radio is always on in my home. This is a non smoking environment and smoking will not be permitted whilst on shift.

As I have a PA team that cover each other’s days off and annual leave I need PA’s that can be adaptable and flexible to work different shifts, some double handed with another PA and others on your own.

Below is a list of some of the takes I will require your support with:

getting in and out of bed
dressing and undressing
washing and showering
wound care
continence care
positioning to minimise the risk of skin breakdown
attention to hair, skin, nails, feet, eyes etc.
transferring in and out of bed/wheelchair
collecting and administering medication
physiotherapy exercises
food preparation and cooking meals
shopping and household/domestic routines/laundry/organising repairs
dealing with paperwork, bills and letters
attend hospital appointments
taking part in social/leisure activities and occasions
driving duties over short and long distances

Here are some of the qualities I am looking for in my Personal Assistant

reliable and trustworthy
able to accept responsibility
self motivated and work with initiative
diligent and conscientious

Arrive at the agreed time ready to work
Give notice if you are going to be more than 10 minutes late
Communicate and discuss any problems that arise as soon as possible

Understand and be mindful of my right to dignity, respect and independence
