Anyone with an interest in understanding Diabetes and who would like to know how to reduce risks of developing this disease.
Type 2 Diabetes is the fastest growing health threat that we face today. With estimates that I in 3 people will develop the disease by 2034, it is important to develop the knowledge and understanding about how this can be prevented..
Course aims and objectives:
To increase awareness of diabetes, its impact on health and what can be done to prevent it
To understand their own risk, or people they engage with, and what can be done to reduce this
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of a healthy diet in relation to Diabetes prevention
Be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the importance of physical Activity in relation to Diabetes prevention
Be able to communicate effectively and confidently with clients/service users about their risks and subsequent lifestyle choices based on a respectful and non-judgemental approach
Be able to demonstrate knowledge of agencies & services which are accessible in the local area that can support clients.
