Fundamental End of Life Care Skills – Delivered by Pilgrim’s Hospice

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to cover the fundamental skills required to improve confidence in caring for someone who is approaching the end of their life.

An interactive and informal approach is used to look at the emotional and practical skills required.

Target Audience

This one-day workshop is suitable for all non-registered health and social care staff working in a variety of settings who are involved in end of life care as part of their roles.

Course Outcomes

By completing this course it is hoped that learners will have covered the following outcomes:
– How to improve basic communication skills and find ways to discuss the wishes and preferences of the person in your care
– How to identify changes as someone approaches the end of life and have the confidence to communicate these changes to relevant support services/agencies
– Practical ways to improve comfort and dignity at the end of life
– The importance of self care when working in end of life care
